Thank you Dr Phil

I sat down to watch Dr Phil, just like I do most days. I wasnt aware of his show topic at this point. I had my ice'd drink in hand and fliped the channel in time to hear him alert parents to have the children leave the room.. hmmm, heavy topic coming up I thought. But the two little guys I babysit were sound asleep in the other room, so I knew I was safe....so then he goes into the topic of the show and the longer I sat through the show, the more appauled I became. Not at Dr Phil, but at teens and the next tren that was sweeping the nation. My son is only 13, but I had NO idea some of this stuff was going on for kids his age. http://drphil.com/shows/show/1323/

I wasnt going to write about it at all, or my thoughts really until I jumped online today to go through my daily blog reading...I came across Michelle's blog My Semblance of Sanity: Sanity's BLOGTOBER TIP PARADE: 10/08 Respect!#links#links#links#links and knew she was right... we as parents owe these kids to get the word out to other parents and to EDUCATE our kids about RESPECT for others, and RESPECT for themselves.

I also knew that although my son and I have talked about Sex, it needs to be addressed way more than I thought for a 13 year old. He now has a girfriend, whom he only sees at school. So my thinking was always, hey its okay... they arent alone during the day. man, was I wrong. I had no idea things had gotten this bad out there.

Sorry Michelle, no Tips really.. just more talking and more education for parents of tweens and teens and also to the kids themselves.
